Yomi Adegoke and Elizabeth Uviebinene speaks on new book - SLAY IN YOUR LANE

Funmi Fetto sat down with Yomi Adegoke and Elizabeth Uviebinene, the dynamic duo behind  Slay In Your Lane  – a comprehensive, inspirational tool book that gives voice, to the next generation of young black British women navigating life in Britain today. The idea was conceived three years ago when South Londoners Uviebinene and Adegoke were 22 and 23 respectively. How did they inexperienced young women themselves, feel they could legitimately provide the tome that would speak to and empower women about getting ahead in life when they were barely out of university themselves? Uviebinene, the less high-energy but no less engaging of the writers knowingly laughs revealing it is a question they had pondered over. The book presents an insight into the challenges black women face in every sphere of life – the usual suspects, work, health, education, money and dating. There are also some touchy subjects such as the fetishisation of black women (in one interview with singer and presen

Beyoncé x Balmain collaborate on charitable capsule collection

just before   Coachella   was rechristened Beychella,   Beyoncé Knowles   and Balmain creative director   Olivier Rousteing   had an idea. It happened in a rehearsal, while Beyoncé and her dancers were practicing in their Balmain-made looks inspired by the marching band uniforms of America’s historically black colleges and universities. “When she saw all the dancers loving the outfit - and she was loving her own outfit - she realised that what we were creating on stage for her, for all the dancers, was something really impactful,” says Rousteing. It clicked: Why not make a Beyoncé x Balmain collaboration that could make those poignant graphics available to all of Bey’s fans clamoring for a piece of history? On Friday, July 13, Balmain will launch a three-piece Balmain x Beyoncé collection in its Paris flagship, with the items going on sale on balmain.com and beyonce.com the following day. Comprised of the yellow and pink sweatshirts Beyoncé wore on stage at Coachella, the collecti

Rihanna unveils lingerie line - savageXfenty

Now that we’ve confirmed that  Rihanna  actually  is  going to outfit our wild thoughts — and that her impeding  #SavageXFenty  lingerie line will be great for our sex lives ( but bad for our wallets ) — it’s time to shop. Here’s what you need to know about the collections: There’s ‘On the Reg,’ a selection of bras and underwear in every shade of nude; ‘U Cute,’ which is full of lacy pieces; ‘Damn,’ which hopes to illicit that reaction exactly with its sexy rompers, garter belt sets, and bodysuits; and ‘Black Widow,’ which features cup-less bodysuits, half-cut bras, and open-back bikini bottoms. But the best part about all of this isn't how vast the selection and sizing is — it’s how affordable the items are: Bras are priced from $29 to $59, underwear from $14.50 to $29, and corsets, rompers, jumpsuits, and robes from $69 to $99. There are also handcuffs, whips, and garter belts in the mix. “Women should be wearing lingerie for their damn selves,”  Rihanna told

beauty secretes of water melon

Synonymous with summer, watermelon is not just the base of a great daiquiri or fresh feta salad, but also a skin-care ingredient to have on your radar. The latest in the long line of Korean imports, watermelon is now having its moment on the world stage. Like its name suggests, watermelon is packed full of H20 (92% to be precise). But its benefits go way beyond hydration – it’s also bursting with a cocktail of skin-nourishing ingredients. “The citrulline, an amino acid, improves blood circulation and works as a natural exfoliator, while lycopene, a phytonutrient, is an anti-inflammatory,” explains facialist  Su-Man . Suitable for all skin types, watermelon is particularly beneficial for people prone to breakouts, redness, or dry and flaky skin, but it could also come in handy for battling fine lines. “Rich in antioxidants that protect the body from free radicals, watermelon is great at treating the signs of aging,” Su-Man says.
